P/O William V.A. EVANS - DOAS Age 25, Crewe District
Cpl John A. McCRAE - DOAS There is a 31 year old in Crewe District, age 36 on CWGC
Sgt John B. PATON - KOAS (Named as J B Payton in Flight Archives); there is a 21 yr old registered in the Windsor district.
LAC Jeffrey WILLIAMS - DOAS, Age 19 Crewe District.
    AC2 Peter H. WILLIAMS - DOAS. Age 19 Newton A District

So Evans, McCrae and J Williams in Crewe district. There are no civilians listed for this date in Crewe Borough so i woudl doubt it was a raid? Car accident maybe.

Winkfield is in the Windsor district so perhaps Paton was on T6191 Tiger Moth?

    Hi Henk
Elstob is in Durham in N E England and for an a/c operating away from it's home airfield is within reach of Usworth and Ouston, both of which were used by 55 OTU

    Hi Henk,

Pilot for N1101 was F/O R M Iliff no injuries to pilot or crew.

"Overshot on landing at Abbotsinch and struck a gun post. The Court of Inquiry stated that the pilot failed to observe the wind sleeve before landing to confirm that the wind had veered 180 degrees since take off."

F1180 for Tiger Moth T6191 lists Payton (sic) as sole fatality.

This may be the source for the Flight name error for Paton.
