Default Sgt T Jeffries RAFVR 22-9-1941

Can anyone give me some information on Sgt Theodore Jeffries. Serial No 1381088 of RAFVR. Killed 22/9/1941 aged 20 and buried in Andover. I believe he may of been a wireless operator on a bomber that crashed near to Andover airfield, after a raid. What type of bomber I do not know or the serial number. Any information gratefully received.

    Hi Andy,

The CWGC website lists him as being with 42 Sqdn. That was a Coastal Command one but on checking CCL by Ross McNeil I can't match it up with a 42 Squadron loss for that date - I checked earlier losses in case he was injured and died later from injuries but couldn't find anything. The only mention of 22nd September re 42 Squadron relates to a Pilot Officer Riefstahl who died during a solo flight on 13th at Leuchars. Ross notes that, after cremation, his ashes were dropped into the North Sea by the Squadron on 22nd September on a Rover operation.

Maybe someone else will be able to check further on 42 Squadron for further info?

    Regards
    Linzee
