    Chris,
One possibility is P/O James Melville Dundas Irvine, who was kia with 106sqdn on 24/5/40.

    Gents,
P/O Irvine is in Harry Moyle's Hampden File on L4072, however with a "?".

How much do we think that P/O James Melville Dundas IRVINE 39988 is not the man from 49 Sqn?

I can't find him on FreeBMD, but his death age 21 is registered in the Coventry District in Q2 1940.

Sydney E Firth also of 106 Sqn is registered in Coventry district.

Which crew was Irvine deleted from? The 49 Sqn crew or the 106 Sqn?

    Hi Chris,
By coincidence I was looking at the newspaper report on this crash a couple of weeks ago. Report gives date as December 22, 1939. Bomber had a crew of three of which two were killed. Dead were reported as: Sgt Observer, Samuel H. Potts age 23 of Kirkhall Lodge, Conmonell, Ayreshire. A/c Edward H. Humphrey of Ilminster, Woodlands Road, Shotley Bridge. Pilot was named as: P/O Edward Marshall of Spalding Lincolnshire.
The pilot was pulled free by Robert Smailes and Robert Longstaff, both local men. Report is in Newcastle Journal of the date, held in Newcastle Library.

    Best Wishes.
    Robert.
