    Default 248 Sqn Loss 21/03/44

I am trying to find out more about the loss of F/Sgt Mowat who was killed on the 21 March 1944. I think he may have been in a Mosquito, and that he was flying with F/O Orr who seems to have been buried in Lennel Churchyard (while Mowat is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial).

I was wondering if anybody could confirm that they were killed together, and add some information to the story.

    Hi Johnnie:

I have this loss as LR361, hit by flak attacking ship off Spanish coast and ditched 25m S of Lizard 21.3.44, though I can't confirm the crew.

    Hi Gents,

I confirm the crew of Mowat and Orr on LR361.

Thanks for that. Does anybody know why Orr hs a grave? Was his body washed up or
was he recovered/picked up and died later? I had assumed he died in the crash as the date of death is the 21st.

    Johnnie
