Hello
A little on the late side perhaps - only 10 and a half years - but Francis William Lashford, birth registered Sunderland, April 1918, m.m.s. Stokoe. Death registered Gateshead, April 1961. The Newcastle Evening Chronicle of Tuesday September 19th 1944 reported the following:
Flight Sergt. Frank Lashford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lashford, of 14 Valley View, Primrose, Jarrow, repatriated from Germany, has arrived home. He was the only survivor of the crew of an aircraft, and was seriously injured. He has been in a German hospital.
Flight Sergt. Lashford was manager at a cinema in Chester-le-Street before he joined the Air Force.

Simon
