    Default Unaccounted airmen - 1-10-1941

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Died of wounds or injuries received on active service:
    LAC (Pilot u/t) Frank BIRCHWOOD - 1033283, and
    AC2 Donald R. MASSEY - 1489276.

    B - Died on active service:
    AC2 John A. HARDING - 1291115.

    C - Not found Flight archives:
    Capt (Royal Artillery attd AOP) Thomas A. BOURN - 149714, and
    Cpl Henry J. BROWNING - 543069.

    D - Proposed aircraft losses for this day:
    Magister I - P2454 - 8 EFTS - crashed on approach Waltham St.Lawrence.
    Oxford I - V3435 - 1 (C)OTU - spun into ground Todhills, 4 miles N of Carlisle (already as a casualty on this a/c: Sgt [WOp/Ag] John G. WALLACE - 653005).
    Oxford II - V3556 - RAFC - crashed in forced landing Cranwell.
    Spitfire I - L1030 - 57 OTU - crashed in forced landing Bretton, Flintshire.
    Spitfire VB - W3566 - AFDU - crashed in forced landing 2 miles E of Coningsby.
    Tiger Moth II - N9147 - 7 EFTS - crashed on landing Desford.
    Tiger Moth II - N9460 - 17 EFTS - abandoned Wittons Farm, Flag Fen, near Peterborough.
    Leopard Moth - AW168 - 7 AACU - undershot landing Castle Bromwich.

    Birchwood,30, registered at Reading, Berkshire
    Massey,27, registered at Fylde, Lancashire
    Bourne,35, registered at Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
    Browning didn't come up on the register.

    apologies, his name is mis-spelt in the original source; Air Crashes in the Lake District' , should be 'McAnany'
