    Default Unaccounted airmen - 5-10-1941

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Died on active service:
    LAC Oswald ROSE - 946027.

    B - Killed on active service:
    Sgt (Pilot) James M. SMITH - 1181176 - 129 Sqn (Westhampnett, Sussex), and
    Sgt (Pilot) Patrick P. STUIVINGA - 777989 - same sqn as Sgt Smith.

    C - Proposed aircraft losses:
    Tiger Moth II - T7348 - 19 EFTS - flew into ground near Sealand.
    Spitfire VB - W3449 - 129 Sqn - collided with Spitfire W3501 and crashed Bowley Farm, St.Mundham, Sussex.
    Spitfire VB - W3501 - refer to serial W3449 - crashed Sefters Farm, 1 mile NE of Rose Green, Sussex.

    Hi Henk,
    Rose,25, registered at Sleaford, Lincolnshire
    Both Smith,20 and Stuivinga,20 are registered at Chichester, Sussex. I think you have the pilots of the collided Spitfires. Westhampnett is just N of Chichester and the 2 crash sites are S of it.

    Thanks Dick, but who was on W3449 and which pilot on W3501 ?
    Someone out there having the ORB for 129 Sqn. ?

    Henk

    W3449 was piloted by Stuivinga and W3501 by Smith according to Gifts of War.
