    Default Unit Abbreviations

Can anyone help me with these unit abbreviations, please?

ADW - SLAW, RAF Old Sarum, 1950-1953
GFS - RAF Boulmer, Jan. 1944
    GFTS - Singapore 1940
    TCANS - RAF Morcambe, 1945

    Thanks

    Hi Steve,

    SLAW School of Land/Air Warfare

    if you will check rafweb.org:

    RAF Old Sarum: School of Land/Air Warfare (1 May 1947 - 31 Mar 1963)

while googling this can be also yours:

    Government Flying Service (GFS)

Hi Steve, unabl to find others but...

TCANS will be something with Transport Command as I have:
TCAEU Transport Command Aircrew Examining Unit
TCASF Transport Command Air Support Flight

The only thing which comes to my mind now is compund Transport Command + Air Navigation School...but it is only a guess as there was not such unit on this base.

    Steve,

According to Ken Delve's 'The Source Book of the R.A.F.' ADW = Air Disbandment Wing (recorded in his abbreviations list but no other detail provided).
