    Default Airfield Maintance

I realise its an odd question, but I'm trying to find out if there was a set amount contractors used when setting up a world war 2 airfield.

    Hi Andrew,

No set allowance because of the variable ground remedial costs but AP3236 Works gives the following general costs.

"By 1942 the average cost of one heavy bomber airfield exclusive of any buildings or services was over 500,000"

Expenditure on Air Navigation, Bombing and Gunnery Schools 1939-45 (Total expenditure to Sept 45)

    Dalcross 798,000
Millom 991,000 (originally designed as SFTS)
    Wigtown 883,000
    Andreas 725,000
Castle Kennedy 636,000 (originally designed as Fighter Satellite)

    Regards
    Ross
