For those with connections with 31 Sqdn. SAAF based at Celone, Foggia, Italy 1944 .
Col. Dirk Nel , former 31 SAAF Base Commander 1944 , died on 27/28th December in South Africa .He was 91
He had attended the Alpine 44 x 31/34 SAAF commemorations in Pretoria for many years.

I met him in 2004.
