Default Arthur Miles 23/24 December 1943

Any information regarding Sergeant Arthur C R Miles RAFVR who was KIA 23 December 1943. It is thought that he died on a raid to Berlin. No known grave. Navigator on a Lancaster? Comemorated on Runnymeade Memorial.

In RAF Bomber Command Losses Vol 7 by W R Chorley there is a Sgt A C R Miles listed as part of the crew of Wellington W5714 of 15 O T U lost 22-23 December 1943 on a training op. It is thought that the aircraft went down somewhere west of the Scillies killing all six men onboard. Five of the crew are commemorated on Runnymede Memorial, a sixth, F/Sgt A Lipshitz DFM was recovered and his grave can be found in Edmonton Federation Jewish Cemetery.

I think the confusion with the Berlin raid probably stems from Sgt G Miles which BCL by Chorley shows as part of the crew of Lancaster III BQ-G2 of 550 Squadron lost on ops to Berlin on the same night and also commemorated on the Runnymead memorial.
