    Default F/S 1425972 Kenneth John SKINNER 26/6/44

    Hi

Posted this a few years ago without reply. I'm hoping someone will be able to help.

Researching F/S 1425972 Kenneth John SKINNER

He failed to return froma sortie on 26/6/44 and is buried in Budapest War Cemetery.

Can anyone assist with what happened to him?

    Many thanks,

    Graeme

    Default 614 Sqn Halifax

A valued contact on Hungarian crashes informed me that JP107 S was coned by searchlights and crashed in flames 15 km south of the target at 32 Arany Janos St. Tab. They were perhaps shot down by Oblt Josef Kraft of 7/NJG 6.

    Hello there,
I have taken some time to find this thread. The above was my mother's brother. I have pictures of him, alone and with 614 Squadron, also one of him as a trainee pathfinder with his mates and trainer.
I am trying to find information about the squadron and would really appreciate any help you can give me.
I have emailed Justin and look forward to his reply as well.

I have the following, to appear in Volume Two of Bomber Losses in the Middle East and Mediterranean:

    614 Sqn
    P/O E G Gittings +
    F/Sgt K J Skinner +
    P/O G M Williams +
    F/Sgt S Cater +
    Sgt A Shaw +
    F/Sgt A S H Brown +

    Halifax II JP107<n>S
Took off 2035, Celone, detailed to attack the Shell Koolaz Refinery, Budapest. Coned by searchlights and crashed in flames 15 km S of the target at 32 Arany JŠnos St. Tab. All are buried in Budapest War Cemetery. Perhaps shot down by Oblt. Josef Kraft (7/NJG 6).
