    Default Charles Herbert SPIERS 16/9/43

    Hi

    Researching
Pilot Officer 155920 Charles Herbert SPIERS
236 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve

killed on Thursday 16 September 1943.

His CO, Wing Commander Cliff D.S.O. wrote to his wife, “Your husband was the navigator of an aircraft flying behind me prior to the attack developing. Just after the attack your husband’s aircraft was observed to crash into the sea from a height of approximately 1,000 feet. The aircraft crashed about 1 mile from the German convoy.”

Can anyone tell me the aircraft, convoy etc.

    Many thanks,

    Graeme
