    Default 172 Squadron - 24-5-1944

    Killed 24-5-1944 and on the Runnymede Memorial:
    F/Sgt (Pilot) John W. BARBER - 1331186 - Panel 215;
    Sgt (2nd Pilot) Eric HENLEY - 1600806 - Panel 231;
    F/O (Nav) Frederick T. HODGE - RAAF 413865 - Panel 257
    F/Sgt (WOp/Ag) Frank POWLS - 1452097 - Panel 221;
    Sgt (WOp/Ag) Arthur LUNT - 1489551 - Panel 233, and
    Sgt (WOp/Ag) Edward J. STONE - 1576159 - Panel 238.

    Aircraft probably lost over Biscay Bay on anti-sub patrol. The squadron at that time was equipped with Wellingtons Mk.XIV, however can't find a serial number in my Wellington files.

    Regards,
    Henk.

    May add that Australian Archives have HODGE on Wellington NB802 (no digital file); Air Britain however has NB802 as being missing on 1-6-1944.

    Henk.
