Has any member any knowledge as to how the numbering of RAF prisoners of war took place. I am researching an Sgt Air Gunner who was captured on the 16th May 1941, taken to Dulag Luft then to Wolfsberg XVIIIa in Austria and subsequently five other camps during his pow service.

My subject received the pow number 2. Was that allocated at the Dulag or first camp received at, in any instant how was he to be issued such a low number in 1941.

As ever it is my hope the forum will provide an answer. Thank you.
