Henk, sadly I cant really help with any names for the Tiger Moth at Broomfleet, all I have is -

Student pilot stalled aircraft in the circuit and crashed at Broomfleet.

Beaufort I - N1178 - TTU - I show no fatalities on this crash and can confirm location as Cappercleugh, Selkirk.

I have same for the Moth at Broomfleet, no fatality.

    Gents,
Sorry..... Ignore my request re HENDERSON. He DIED on active service what means that he was not involved in a flying accident.
    Mea maxima culpa.

    Gents

Gill is registered at Thurso, place of death 'The Highway, Sordale' (6 miles S of Thurso). Cause of death 'fractured skull'. Road accident?

Hassall doesn't come up in Scotland or England & Wales. I note the reference to 715S FAA, but this unit was disbanded at Kai Tak Jan 1940 into 700S and not raised again as an entity until Aug 1944 at St Merryn. 700S however had its base at Twatt in 1941 with sub flights/squadrons based at Stornoway, Sullum Voe, Dekheila and North Front.

715S was responsible for the a/c of ships' flights on the China Station, and at the outbreak of war had 7 Walrus a/c to equip 5 cruisers.

    regards

    DaveW
