Default 819 Sqn Casualty Query; 29/12/1941

I am looking for the circumstances of death of AC2 Albert L Moseley of 819 Sqn. who died on 29/12/41 and is buried in Wolverton (New Bradwell) Cemetery, Bucks.

The CWGC list him as RAFVR but I assume this must be 819 Sqn RNAS that appears to have been a Swordfish equipped unit based at Lee-on-the-Solent around this time.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks - Colin

    Hi Colin
Don't be surprised at finding RAFVR associated with a Fleet Air Arm Sqn. If you look on this site, http://www.glarac.com/, which commemorates the loss of the carrier Glorious in June 1940 there are many RAF names listed as being on FAA Sqns, there are also some listed on a RN Site http://www.naval-history.net/xDKCas1003-Intro.htm under the carrier Courageous in 1939. This suggests that the RAF were providing at least a/c maintenance for FAA Sqns after the Service was handed over to the Admiralty in 1937. Some of the Glorious casualties were evacuated from Norway but many were apparently part of the Ship's Complement.
    Regards
    Dick
