    Default Air Gunner's Combat records

Does anyone know where records of an Air Gunner's combat reports or records of combats can be found?
Would these be included in the individuals Service Records or would the Squadron records hold them?

Some are downloadable (at a charge) from the National Archives site.
    Take a look at
    http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/about.asp#air
You are able to search by name

    Cheers

    hello,

As explained in a previous post, combat reports for Bomber Command Squadrons can be found in the AIR 50 series at Kew, in microfilm form.

It starts from AIR 50/178 for No.7 Squadron, /179 for No. 9 Squadron, and so on. I have No. 487 Squadron in AIR 50/270, but this is only May 1943. This should cover a few claims by gunners when the Squadron was flying Venturas. As they later flew Mosquitoes, no air gunner's claims.

You browse the online catalogue between these references until you find the Squadron to which your man belonged. Then it's up to you, either go there if you can, or download / purchase copies, as you wish.
