Carrere's family came to Canada from France in 1908. Originally rejected by the RCAF for reasons of eyesight he joined the French Air Force but was later accepted by the RCAF in May 1941 after escaping from Europe with his brother.

Post-war he was a Progressive Conservative member of the Ontario Legislature. He was killed 6 October 1948 when his car struck a train at a level-crossing.

Boczar and Carrere were crewmermbers on the delivery flight of KB700 "Ruhr Express", the first Lancaster built in Canada, departing Malton , Ontario 6 August 1943.
