    Default 29/06/1954 Meteor crash

The Times reports a fatal accident involving a Meteor at Selmeston, Lewes, Sussex on this day. The pilot and navigator (unnamed) were killed.

This incident is not listed in Cummings, at least not at this date.

Does anyone have the serial No. please.

    regards

    Hi Dave
From "Broken Wings" by James Halley. Meteor NF12 of 85 Sqn, WS600, both engines cut, dived into the ground after abortive abandonment 2 dead(no names). The site is given as Cobcourt, 1m NE of Berwick Sussex. The Google map shows Berwick as being close to Selmerston to the SW,so I think it is the right incident.
    Regards
    Dick

Thanks Dennis & Dick. I did gave WS600 listed, but at Berwick on Tweed! This is how it may have been entered in the 1st edition of ABS WA-WZ, but corrected in the 2nd. I will check.

    regards

    Errol,

because The Times did not give the a/c serial and did not mention Berwick, I was looking for an additional incident!

    Thanks for clearing it up.

    regards

    DaveW
