I tried Geoff's CWGC Search Engine and found four other RAF/RAFVR fellows killed on the same day but the were all buried separately in far flung places (possibly buried at home as might be suspected after war time?), so no clue there that I can see.

    FHE Ford, RAF, 53238, Cardiff

D Scott, RAFVR, 1551181, Alvah Parish, Scotland

The England and Wales death register index places them dying far and wide also.
Gardiner age 32 St. Albans district
    Fillamore age 23 Barnstable district
    Ford age 26 Pontypridd district
    Ryan age 45 Durham N W district
Scott age 23 in Chippenham district. - Killed on Active Service.

    No help there I'm afraid

    Default Cause of death

Thank you both for your efforts.

My interest in not primarily in Gardiner, I was researching an ATS Girl, Rosina Hutton, who died in 1945 and discovered that her grave also includes Corporal Gardiner and a Fusilier Patmore, both died a year later.

My concern is that they have a numbered grave, with apparantly no headstone, and are commemorated on the Screen Wall. It's a bit late now but off-putting, I would imagine, for any relatives wishing to pay their respects.

    Thanks again chaps

    Tony
