Default Wellington encounter 18 February 1941

    Hi guys

Isn't it annoying when you can't find something on the web that you had seen earlier?

Quite recently I came across a brief account by a member of a Wellington crew (possibly 99 Squadron) following the raid on Newmarket 18 February 1941. The Wellington apparently encountered the raider and exchanged gunfire.

    Any ideas please?

    Cheers

    Default Wellington/Do17 encounter

    Thanks Norman

Yes, I'd found that site, but thanks all the same.

I have since established that the pilot of the Wellington was Plt Off Jack Goodman of 99 Squadron, but have been given two different dates for the encounter with the Do17 - 5 February and 18 February (the latter being the date of the raid on Newmarket town). It looks like another trip to Kew to sort this out, unless someone has a copy of 99 Squadron's ORB they can consult.

    Cheers
    Brian
