Further to and confirming Dennis's post, AC1 Raymond Edgar George COCKBURN - 921003 (age 22) death is recorded in the District of Rhu, County of Dunbarton, Scotland. His record indicates his body was found on the foreshore at Rhu Point, Rhu on 5 January 1942. Reported to having been last seen alive on 28 November 1941 and cause of death was multiple injuries resulting from a flying boat crash.

Could MORRIS ans COCKBURN both have been attd to MAEE Helensburgh, Rhu, Dunbartonshire and any idea where we could start further research on a possible aircraft/flying boat accident ?

Normally QED = quod erat demonstrandum (It's not "Q" code!!). The (loose ) Latin translation is "that which was demonstrated" - i.e we put forward this theory, the observed, and verifiable, events proved it to be right, thus QED!!

R.E.G Cockburn and J.A. Morris were both on Sunderland W3976.
Cockburn is buried at Bolton St.Mary's churchyard and Morris was never recovered.
Turret parts of W3976 were dredged up in the 1980's when the Navy deepend the chanel past Rhu spit where the crash occurred which is in front of my house.
