    Default Mid air collision 22/11/42

On this date a Beaufighter VIc EL394 from No. 2 (C) OCU collided with a Spitfire from No. 316 Sqn.

I have the Spitfire pilot as Sgt. T. Orzechowski (Polish).

    Do anybody know

    1. His Christian name and service no.
    2. The Mark and Serial No. of the Spitfire

    Cheers

    Hi Rich

It certainly does so thanks for that.

The ORB has him as a Sgt but that's all I know.

I also have Robert Andrew Patterson as the pilot of the Beaufighter

    Cheers

Eddie, the "Kpl" rank is what i take to be the Polish wording for the rank, I dont know what the English of this is but Sgt could be right.

Patterson and Orzechowski (Age 21) are both registered in Buckrose District.

Since there is no other Commonwealth airman buried in the same cemertery as Patterson I guessed his observer was British (though could be European also)

but I found no one! I left out the non aircrew ranks but I can't place anyone else for that date.
    (Using Geoff Sullivan's search engine)

For those able to read Polish,
    http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=u7Irfnw_i_AC&dq=Orzechowski+BL-246&q=BL-246&pgis=1

    H W S Bristow, R H Church, T J Haver, F P Nettleton, are all Southam District.

B A Tidman is Pembroke district

The Czech Frant Remes is in Bridgend District, but his name is Frank on the register.

    Non aircrew ranks
I Williams - either Christchurch or Cuckfield districts. Ages are one year up and down on CWGC.

The ORB doesn't indicate whether Pattersons aircraft carried an Observer - it simply records 'both pilots killed.

This of course doesn't mean anything as there seem to be inconsistancies in some of the entries with not all crew names always shown

I have put up another post where the ORB says all six killed - so far I have 3 of them

    Cheers both

    Eddie
