Darwin's obit states that he died in London. Sadly his son, Christopher William Wharton Darwin, was killed in action in North Africa in August 1942 whilst with 274 Squadron.

Thanks Amrit. His son F/Lt C.W.W. DARWIN - 42050 was killed 7-8-1942 and lies buried in the El Alamein War Cemetery; his name is in my list 'unaccounted airmen'. Killed same day 274 Sqn was F/Sgt Paul G. HEMMER - RCAF R/83123 (from USA) who lies buried in the El Alia Military Cemetery at Algiers. He too is on my list because I couldn't find the matching Hurricane serials. These could have been Z5337 and BE683.
Anybody who could help me with the matching a/c serial numbers ?
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Default AH770 26Sqdn

    Henk

Tomahawk I AH770 was badly damaged when it bounced on landing at Oakhills and ground looped. Pilot was Pltoff Green. Aircraft had been used on operational flights over Europe and is thought to have been converted to TACR configuration.

    Default 411226 - Unaccounted airman - 26-12-1941

Looking for cause of death of P/O Lewis G.R. WALLINGTON - 66548, of 39 Squadron, reported missing in CC 111 (Flight Global 26-2-1942 page 187) and buried in the Tripoli Victoria (Naval) Cem., Lebanon. Sqn may have been based at Ikingi Maryut (or LG.86) Egypt flying Marylands and Beauforts. Can't find a matching aircraft serial in my files.
    Regards and thanks,
    Henk.
