    Default P/O Porter 126 Sqn

    Hi,

I am trying to find any further details on 420263 P/O J R B PORTER RAAF, accidently killed with 126 Sqn 14 Sept 1944.

Basically, the only info I have is from the AWM Roll of Honour.

    Thanks

    Torokina

    Hi

Go to the NAA and go to the records section and search now. Put his service number in keywords and you will see his service file which is on line and his crash report which is not. Follw the prompts and you can get it put on line.

    Hi John,
Thanks for that. I think you still need to pay a fee to request the crash report? I will have to follow it up though.
    Thanks

    Hi Torokina,

    Google the following; "F/O J R B Porter, RAAF - died 14 Sep 1944".

At least, it will get you under way.

    Hi Torokina,

Porter apparently shared in damaging a Bf 109 with F/Sgt Rae South of Paris on 14 August 1944. There was some information about this combat at the address below, however, the ‘combat report’ link does not currently work. Perhaps other forum members may have further details of the encounter in which 126 Sqn apparently claimed 3 Bf 109s + 2 Fw 190 destroyed, a further Bf 109 as probable and 2 as damaged.

    Hi John, Col and Drew.

    Thanks for the help.
Drew, I must admit I have seen the webpage for the Spit MK923 when I was looking for info on 126 Sqn. Unfortunately I did not try any of the links, so I am most grateful that you pointed out Porter's shared claim. It is most exciting to discover this!

    Cheers

    Torokina
