    Default Crash locations 156 Sqn Lancasters ED598 & ED822, 29/30 July 1943

    Dear all,

    I am looking for information about the locations/times where/when 156 Sqn Lancasters ED598 and ED822 crashed during the Hamburg raid of 29/30 July 1943. Any information most welcome!

    Theo,
    Martin Middlebrook in his "Battle of Hamburg" has them both going down just to the south of Heide, shortly after crossing the coast. So far as I can work out, ED598 came down about 7km SSW of Heide whilst ED822 crashed approximately 10km SE of Heide.
    I stress these are only rough calculations based on Midddlebrook's book.
