Act. Flt Lt James Bodman survived a mid air collision on 17 August 1939 which occured near to Berwick on Tweed.
Does anyone have any more details?

Seals K4783 and K3579 of 2 AOS collided at Beale, Berwick on Tweed on this day. I have no note of any casualties.

Corporal John Prudhoe, in the aircraft piloted by Bodman, was killed when they both jumped out of the aircraft. Bodman's chute opened but Prudhoe's didn't.

P/O Challenor Lindsay, and Aircraftmen William Fletcher and Alexander Armour, managed to land the other aircraft, with Lindsay sustaining a broken leg.

A look at the K File, and from the info. Amrit's post I can say that Bowden was piloting K3579.

There was another casualty of this incident, K3535, whilst trying to land alongside the wreck of K3579, hit an obstruction and tipped up.

    regards
