    Default RCAF home Squadron ORBs

    Hello,

Does anyone know where and how any ORB of RCAF Squadron located in Canada (I mean not in the 400 range numbers) during WW2 can be obtained?

    Thanks

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

I am sure that some of our Canadian friends will give you more detailed reply but I will guess they are available at

The ORBs for most RCAF home units (squadrons, Schools, Flights, etc.) are on microfilm at the Library and Archives Canada (LAC). Here in Canada, we can get these films on loan through our local libraries free of charge. I'm not sure how this would work outside of the country. Some of these reels are identified in the on-line databases mentioned in the earlier posts, but most are not.

The LAC has a multipage master document that enables you to find the reel or reels of any unit. Chris (aka Dakota) has a copy and is a whiz at finding what you need.

    Phil,

I am aware of at least one researcher here in New Zealand who a few years ago was able to obtain RCAF Station diaries on microfilm on loan from Canada through our library system.
