Malcolm,
Are you sure about 45 Sqn for Hawker?
There is no mention of him in the nominal roll in Jefford's 'The Flying Camels - the history of No 45 Sqn, RAF'.

45 Sqn was quoted on CWGC but I am dubious as he is buried in Harare so I suspect he had previously served in 45 and this is what was advised to CWGC.
Malcolm
Malcolm,
When I check the CWGC online I cannot see any reference to his unit at all. Jefford does not have him on either his Roll of Honour or on his Nominal Roll, so I think we can be fairly confident that he was never with 45 Sqn.

Hi Errol
I've rechecked and have no idea were I got 45 Sqn from, probably just a mis-type on my part.

Thanks for info on Scott
Malcolm
hello,
It could be 45 Squadron, but not R.A.F. ! We've had a similar case a couple of months ago, the number was right, but it was a S.A.A.F. unit if I remember well. I've also seen a few occurence where the number was right, but it was not a Squadron, a flight or an O.T.U., F.T.U., etc...
As he's buried in Harare, it's likely to be a training unit which was then based in Southern Rhodesia.
my two cents worth...

Many thanks, I also suspect he was with one of the schools in Southern Rhodesia.

Apologies if you have now found the information you were looking for but I came across this forum whilst "googling" for Lenox Hawker.
Clearing out some of my deceased relative's belongings I found an envelope which contained a card entitled:
In Loving Memory
of
Sgt-Pilot LENOX A. T. (PETER) HAWKER
ROYAL AIR FORCE
Who was killed on 2nd January, 1941
whilst flying in Southern Rhodesia, Africa.
AGED 20 YEARS
His parents lived in Chard Road, Heavitree, Exeter.
Also on the Commonwealth War Grave Commision Site there is an entry (containing his Service number):
http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=2617363
which says he is buried in Harare (PIONEER) Cemetery. It also states that he was part of the RAF Volunteer Reserve.
Hi Rockman
Many thanks for confirming he was definitely in Southern Rhodesia, all we need now is the aircraft
Happy New Year
Malcolm
