There are notices for a W.C. Parsons in the LG moving up the ranks from F/O to S/Ldr between 1942 and 1958 when he retired but he is/was RAF (45989). He also wasn't a Sgt in 1943. He went from F/O to F/L Temp on 1 Jun 1942.

There is a W/O Ward Clifford Parsons (J17328) awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross with No.61 Squadron - Award effective 6 August 1943 as per London Gazette dated 17 August 1943. The citation is available at the Awards Database: http://airforce.ca/honours-awards/search-awards-database

    Also see http://www.bombercrew.com/61/mullins.htm

There is also a donation listed at the Canadian Warplane Heritage site in Memory of F/L Ward Parsons DFC http://www.warplane.com/pages/donations_donarcouncil.html

FYI there is a recent posting about Parsons by the son of his Flight Engineer here:

You may be able to get some information from him.
