    Pats,
All references I have for W4843 place it with 9 Squadron. Bill Chorley does not show any loss for 156 Squadron on 14/4/43.

    Default Lancaster W4843 WS-K - 13/14-Jan-1943

Can't help with the subject Lancaster, I'm afraid but can offer a suggestion about W4843 with 156 Sqdn.

W4943 flew on two op'ns immediately before Stuttgart, didn't appear in the ORB for Stuttgart, and flew on the next two op'ns after Stuttgart. W4843 just flew on the Stuttgart op'n. That looks very much like the typo that you mention!

The Movement Card doesn't show W4843 with 156 Sqdn either. Almost certainly an ORB typo.

    Cheers

    Allan

    Teunis,
I've W4843 shot down by Oblt Reinhold Knacke of I./NJG1 and lost over the North Sea W of Schouwen 13-1-1943 20.56 hrs. No idea what's in Drs Boiten's Nachtjagd War Diaries.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Hi Folks,

Looks like a "typo" at the 156 Squadron site.
    Did contact the webmaster.
Crash of W4843 is not mentioned in SGLO's crash log - so-called "Verliesregister 1939-1945"

    Thanks for additional info.

In "Verliesregister SGLO" only mentioned if known that the ditch was within the Dutch territorial waters or outside but crew member(s) washed ashore and buried in The Netherlands.

    Dear all,

I have the following entry in the manuscript of the NJWD 2nd edition:

    Oblt. Horst Pause: 1 1./NJG1 Lancaster Sea W. Schouwen (Hamster): 200 m. 20.56 prob. 9 Sqn Lancaster W4843

Oblt. Pause of the 1st Staffel of NJG1 claimed a Lancaster during a GCI patrol in area 'Hamster' to the W. of Schouwen at 20.56 hrs, for his first combat victory, which I have linked to the loss of W4843.

    Hope this is of use,

    Cheers, Theo

    Hi Folks,

    In the ORB of 156 Squadron - Lancaster I W4843 - is given 14-4-1943 -
Task STUGGART with P/O J.M. Horan.
    The day before - 13 - 4 -1943 - Horan was flying with Lancaster I W4849 - task SPEZIA -
To me it looks that on 14-4-1943 it also should be W4849
    instead of W4843 ( crash 13th January 1943 task ESSEN ).

    All thanks for additional info.
