    Default Unaccounted airmen - 26-1-1942

What were the places of death registration for:

LAC Frederick J. MILEY - 1056802 - died on active service, and
LAC (Pilot u/t) Reginald WATSON - 1022077 - killed on active service.

Also looking for the unit of:
Cpl Joseph BERRY - 1060920, whose name is commemorated on Panel 289 of the Runnymede Memorial. (289 a high panel number for that time and grave may have been lost or info reported by MoD to CWGC at a later date).

Proposed aircraft losses for this day:
    Oxford I - P8900 - 14 FTS - crashed on landing Lyneham.
    Oxford I - V3558 - 12 FTS - crashed Walcot near Wittering.
Tutor I - K6097 - CF Wick - crashed in forced landing near Forsinard, Sutherland.
    Havoc I - BJ497 - 1452 Flt - crashed on landing West Malling.
Mohawk IV - BJ434 - 15 FPP - crashed in forced landing 6 miles from Basingstoke, Hampshire.

Regards and thanks for your help.
    Henk.

F J Miley is buried in and his parents came from Bangor Northern Ireland and being DOAS is probably from there.

He not in Q1 or Q2 EngWal index, nor does he appear to be in Scotland.

There is a 33 yr old Joseph Berry registered in Maidstone in Q1 1942. Perhaps a co-incidence.

    Hi Henk,

Berry seems a bit of a mystery he is not listed on RAF Overseas list.

So I suppose he could be the Maidstone man !

Thanks Mark. At the end there ever will be black spots left in the files. Will ask CWGC in the future why these high panel numbers for missing personnel earley in the forties.

    Henk.

Thanks Ross. Another one deleted from the long list; WATSON's death registered North Huntingdonshire.
