On July 27, 1942, this aircraft coded LQ-P, on an operation to Hamburg, exploded and fell into the Elbe River seven miles west of the target. Another source says it blew up over a marshy area on the south bank of the Elbe approximately 10 km southeast of Stade.

The crew were:

F/S H.M.Slezak RCAF KIA
Sgt A.D.Swansburg RCAF KIA
Sgt K.S.Watson KIA
F/S G.R.Titus RCAF KIA
P/O N.L.Laing RCAF KIA
Sgt J.W.Macauley RCAF KIA
Sgt J.D.Creede RCAF KIA
P/O D.A.Street RCAF KIA

Macauley, Creede and Street are buried in Hamburg. The remaining men have no known grave and their names are inscribed on the Runnymede Memorial

I am wondering if anyone has done further research into this crash. Perhaps an exact location of the crash, eyewitness accounts, or a crew photo. F/S G.R. Titus was my uncle.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much!
