    Default Hudson N7253 - 24 Sqdn. 17-7-42.

    Hi All,

Does Stephen Cummings' cover this loss in 'Though Without Anger"? If so, could someone please post a crew/passenger list.

    Regards,
    Col.

Page 350 of Flight dated 24th September 1942, KOAS list probably contains the RAF people on board. From an old posting of Henk's

    http://www.rafcommands.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=5172&forum=DCForumID 6&archive=yes

The three names he had then are there.

I have to skip to a training course but if this is unanswered later this evening I'll have a look.

here is the KOAS list unedited so its not much use but in conjunction with Geoff Dullivans site:

    Hi Dennis,

Thanks for that. I already have 13 names which I wanted to compare with any listing in Cummings' book. They are as Follows:-

Aus403055 F/O Neville Patrick Peter KEARNEY RAAF + (24 Sqn.)
    78843 F/L John Bryan Glostek(?) ROGERS + (24 Sqn.)
    751687 W/O (Obs.) Thomas Derrick BUTCHER + (24 Sqn.)
    808379 Sgt (W.Op./Gnr) Charles Robert BELL +
    1234130 AC1 Kenneth Manley TUCKER + (24 Sqn.)
    21092 W/C Malcolm Morgan McMullan +
36914 Major Terence Andrew Alfred WATT + (Life Guards)
    31159 S/L Arthur William HOGGAR +
43089 F/L (Pilot) Brian Stanley BANNISTER DFC +
    Herbert Ernest SMITH (Civilian) +
    C A COATMAN (Civilian) ? ?
    Edgar ARMITAGE + (Civilian)
    LT-Com Alfred Noel WARING RN + (H.M.S.Landrail).

I could not locate Coatman on the CWGC. He may have survived the crash. If there is one, could someone provide a place of death registration for him.

    Regards,
    Col.

Mr Coatman was killed also. His grave is in Hawarden Cemetery just down the road from here and he is recorded in the CWGC Register for Flintshire etc. He was an Air Ministry Lands Officer, presumably something to do with acquiring land for airfield building? As I recall, a wing came off this aircraft while it was en route to (or from?) N Ireland and it crashed near Denbigh.

    Hello Dave,

Thanks . Had a look at the cemetery reports for Hawarden Cemetery, still no Coatman. Kearney,McMullan and Waring are also buried in Hawarden Cemetery.

I should make mention of the fact, that Kearney's A705 is incorrectly listed at the NAA under service number 403053. One of the many!

Would you have Coatman's christian names, by any chance?

Sorry Col but I can't find my copy of the Flints War Graves Register at the moment so I can't check for further details, if any. I think his headstone only has initials.

    Col,

Curiously, there is no mention of this loss in TWA.
