    Default 1/10/1944 JP856 Typhoon Ib 183 Squadron F/Sgt.E.M.Denny

    Hi,

On 1/10/1944 F/Sgt E.M.Denny of 183 Squadron made a belly landing with Typhoon Ib JP856 near Antwerp. A leak of the oil cooler had been reported before his mission, but it was not considered as serious. The engine failed and the pilot made a belly landing at approx. 17h00. Iím looking for the full name of this pilot and any other details about this pilot and crash.

    Many thanks in advance,

    best regards from Belgium,

    Luc

    Hello Luc,

He took off from B.53 Merville at 16:30 hours with 7 others from 183 to attack gun positions and house near Antwerp, S/L R.W. MULLINER leading. The others landed back at 17:45. "House destroyed and area well canon strafed. F/Sgt DENNEY (note spelling) force-landed south of Antwerp, not yet returned." from Squadron ORB.

Next mention of him in the form 541 is on 5th October.

    Hi Joss,

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find him in the AIR 78 listing as E.M.Denny.

This listing (AIR 78/45 first part) however contains Denney Eric Musgrave Lasenby 1318615, which must be the pilot in question.

    best regards

    Luc

    Hello Luc,

Yes, I had found E.M.L. 1318615 too, but from the London Gazette, and I wasn't sure, so I didn't mention it.

Usually the form 1180 has the service number, that should confirm.

e-mail already sent over to you in answer to your pm.
