    Default Catalina AH556 413 Sqn Ensign Eldred USN

    Ref above, AH556 crashed 23 August 1941, not as stated. Ensign Eldred was an instructor, his body was recovered on 10 Spetember 1941 and he was buried at Stranraer, however, his remains were transferred to Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, California on 19 May 1994.

    Hi we recently sawe this post and I'd just like to say that as much as I do not know much information about the day in question I can tell you that "Flight Engineer Horace Reginald SPICER" was in fact my grandfathers eldest brother
    (Horace still has children and grandchildren alive today) It was such a shame that he was shot down with the other crew and passangers that, One of his daughters and her husband has been to the memorial in Surrey and his name is also on our local war memorial, I'm sorry I can't tell you much more but just wanted to share what I had Thanks
