    Hi Peter

    See

    http://www.forcesmemorial.org.uk/roll-of-honour/R2544-RICHARDS

It shows the year for both as 1952 whilst based at RAF Shinfield Park but is no help as to the cause

    Cheers

    Peter,

the year was 1952, not 1951.

    From Cummings' Last Takoff:

    Anson TX197
    FTC CF
    Near Woodley Reading

At 150 feet after a normal take off, the aircraft banked to starboard. The bank increased sharply and the aircraft flicked onto its back and dived inverted into the ground. It ended up erect and on fire. It seems probable that the aircraft suffered engine failure shortly after take off.

Also killed: Cadet John William Hancock 15 ATC

Can't understand why in this day and age they have to have such a restrictive search engine on that memorial site.

Shinfield Park was thne HQ of Flying Training Command

And googling for Struthers Richards 1952 RAF November gives this:
    https://www.pprune.org/archive/index.php/t-212072.html

17.11.52:: Anson C19:: TX197:: FTC CF (unit):: Sandford Farm, 1m NE of Woodley:: Lost power on takeoff, stalled and dived into ground inverted:: 3 fatal

    Who is third person?

    TNA Reference (I think)
    BT 233/124 Anson 19, TX197: near Woodley, Berks., 17 Nov. 1952
