    Default Beaufighter T.F.X LX984

    Hello All,

Could someone with the appropriate Air Britain Serials volume, provide me with a history of Beaufighter T.F.X LX984.

    Thanks,
    Col.

    Col, here you go:

304 Ferry Training Unit > Aircraft Delivery Unit > Engine cut on ferry flight: bellylanded on rough ground, 20/08/43

    Hi Niall,

What service! Thanks. Was there a location mentioned for the bellylanding?

The 304 FTU ORB (Port Ellen) refers to one of their a/c swinging and crashing on take-off on this date, crew OK, presumably at Port Ellen but does not specify LX984. It seems a reasonable tie-up.

    Keith,

My query was in relation to AUS409756 F/O Geoffrey Alan TAYLOR RAAF. The title description on his undigitised A705 (NAA; A705 166/39/115), shows a corrupt Beaufighter serial, ie LVEX984, which I took to read LX984. The date/location of the incident is given as 20-8-43/Middle East.

I will need to get Taylor's A705 digitised to clear it up.

    Thanks for your help,
    Col.
