    Default Aiming Point Certificates

    Hello everyone,

I am involved in a discussion on another forum about aiming point certificates. I believe crews who brought back a picture of a direct hit were awarded these.

We have seen some examples on the internet and I have three from my father with 106 Squadron. They all seem to be signed by Mr. Cochrane.

My question is, were these certificates just awarded by 5 Group which seems to be the case from the examples that have been seen so far.

The certificates are a picture of a Lancaster with the raid, date and crew members names.

    thank-you for your help,
    Chris

    Chris.

I have seen some produced by RCAF Squadrons within Bomber Command. Quite correct they were for efficency in reaching the target, the certificate the photos were applied to can vary. Hope this helps.
