His name doesn't come up in a search through the Library & Archives Canada database of war dead using his service number. Was he killed during the war?

There is a Donald James McKinney McConnell from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario who was awarded a DFC with 406 Squadron. His service number as an officer was J85568 but he would have had a different one starting with an R before being commissioned. Its a possibility. http://airforce.ca/honours-awards/search-awards-database/

    Adrian,

Could you provide some additional information? Where/When/Who found the bracelet? The circumstances of the bracelet's discovery could aid in identifying McConnell.

    Hi Ken,

That's the problem. We don't know any other relevant information. If we know that the bracelet was found near or at a crashsite it was maybe easy to find out whom once belonged the bracelet. A friend became this bracelet from an auction in Holland.

    Regards,

    Default D. McConnell

I can confirm that R.90684 D. McConnell and J.85568 Donald James McKinney McConnell, DFC (deceased since July 1969) are one and the same man.
