Default Flt/Lt Walter Morison RAF obituary

An interesting obituary of the wartime life of Flt/Lt Walter Morison in the Telegraph today, 24/4/09.He & a fellow prisoner, Lorne Welch, took part in the Great Escape & tried to "borrow " a German plane. They were eventually recaptured & sent to Colditz.

I'm presuming Morison as spelt in the Telegraph is the correct spelling ?

An interesting parallel for me, my RCAF brother-in-law and his crew (Hudson T9439, 161 Squadron) were released from Swedish internment in October 1944 when they were traded to the German side for a Bucker Bestmann trainer that had been flown into Sweden by two Poles.

It's a co-incidence for me because I learned yesterday that a distant RAAF relative was a member of the escapees from The Great Escape, Stalag Luft 3 but was shot on recapture & is buried in Poznan Old Garrison cemetery , Poland .

Thanks for the Morison spelling .
