    Hello,

Possibly involved in loss of Oxford BG397:-

656309 Sgt (Pilot) Jacques Thornfinn GOODSIR
    1040829 LAC Dennis HOPE

Both mentioned in same KOAS Casualty List as Studd. (The Times Oct.23 1942).

    Could be others.

APOLOGIA: Please disregard abovementioned names, result of poor research.

    hello,

Goodsir was flying a Hurricane when he was killed in a flying accident. I have a small file on him at home. As his first name shows, he had french roots, and I was asked many years ago through a French genealogical society to make some research about him. From memory either 55 or 56 O.T.U., in Annan.
More details about him tonight when I'm home.

    Thanks Guys,

As this appears to be an OTU, does Chorley have anything on this accident?

    hello,

Sgt J.T. GOODSIR was flying with No. 55 O.T.U., Annan. He was killed in a flying accident in Hurricane P3227 and crashed half a mile west of Kirtlebridge, Dumfriesshire. Cause of accident due to failure of No 2A big end, plane then caught fire in the air and crashed. (AIR 29/682).

His older brother was George A. GOODSIR, who was serving in the Bomber Command.

    hello,

I'm afraid I only searched the fate of Jacques GOODSIR, and this was 9 years ago. There may have been other losses from No. 55 O.T.U. that day, but I needed the details of that one only.

If Henk Welting is reading this thread, he may have further details. Or we'll have to wait until he reaches this date. That should take a couple of months before he arrives in June 1942.

I've STUDD as a possible candidate for BG397 with an airman named GRIFFITHS as a survivor.
    Regards,
    Henk.
