    Default C W Robinson, 2 SFTS, 1940/41

    Guys,

    I have a C W Robinson (913652) listed with 220 Squadron, KIA 28/11/41.

Was this guy the pilot, which would narrow my search, and what happened to him?

Is this the same guy that came out of 2 SFTS at the end of March 1941?

    Regards,

    Nick

    hello Nick,

From Ross' Coastal Command losses volume 1, he was flying aboard Hudson V AM799 coded NR-V. He's listed in the second position, so likely to be the second pilot (Ross would probably confirm). Pilot was F/O E.W. TATE D.F.C., the other crewmembers are Sgt P. SHANE and B.R. EDIS. No survivor.
Operation was Varro. Took off at 12:46 hrs from Wick, suffered an engine failure during an attack on a ship near Stavanger, Norway. All are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

    Nick,
Sgt Claud W. ROBINSON - 913652 was - as far as I can see - the observer on Hudson AM799 of 220 Sqn (CC-Losses Vol.1 page 164); perhaps Ross could confirm.
    Regards,
    Henk.
