Henk, the pilot of Master W8525, coded "KT-9" at Brighouse was one Wendell J A Nelson, I dont have an Am1180 for this one but there was a couple of reports in a newspaper afew years ago locally of which i have copies. These have him as F/O Nelson RCAF, but a US citizen of Freemont, Alaska.

He survived the force landing at Brighouse and found his way to a nearby house where the Knowles family lived and he and they stayed in contact for some time. I gather that he later transferred to the USAAF and was killed in a US Mustang crash near Martlesham in 1945. A biog of Nelson is quoted in the press report as being in "USAAF Fighter Stories" by Ian McLachlan.

    Hi Henk
Atkinson,22 is registered at N Walsham, Norfolk.
There is a slight ambiguity with Coleman. CWGC has him as Royce Norval Coleman, the register has him as Royce W Coleman registered in the right Qtr at N Walsham, apart from that he seems to be your man and it seems to tie them in with Fellowes and Town

    Rich and Henk

An article on Wendell Nelson appears in the latest edition of FlyPast, which confirms the crash details.
