    Default Halifax MZ574 lost 23 Sept 44

For a reader of my web pages, I'm looking for information on the loss of Halifax MZ574, 10 Sdn, on 23 September 1944. The reader is researching on behalf of a relative of a crew member. He has the names and fates of all the crew, both killed and POW, but is looking for information on how and where the aircraft was brought down. He thinks it may have been claimed by a night fighter, possibly Oblt. Lothar Jarsch of 4./NJG 2, but is looking for more details.

    Bill,

MZ574 appears on page 24 of this file originating in the Netherlands. Crash location is "Swier (gem. Wijnandsrade)".

MZ574 crashed near the farm "De Brommelerhof". Memorial unveiled 23-9-1995. One of the main landing wheels still on the inner square of the farmhouse.

    Henk.

Many thanks Henk. would you have a photo of the memorial? My reader is helping a relative of F/O G.R. Kite track down information.

Bill, your contact should get in touch with Doug Evans who is the historian for the 10 Squadron Association and a 10 Squadron veteran from the war years himself. I've dropped you a private message with his e-mail address.

    Kind Regards
    Linzee

Unfortunately no photo of the memorial. Only a snapshot of one of the main wheels as mailed out to you.
    Regards,
    Henk.
