    Default Yugoslav airmen in RAF

    Hi All,

Im looking for any information about these yugoslav airmen who did training in No 2 ITW "Hillside Camp" Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia on the late 1943:

    1. Drago Paloversic
    2. Miguel Yaksic (Jaksic?)
    3. Diordie Mileshevitch (Milesevic or Milosevic?)

any idea will be warmly appreciated

    Milan, Hi,
Routledge's Enlistment numbers contains the following (with reference to Yugoslavia):
411231-411250 Jugoslav transfers from British Army M East Mar 1944
    710061-711999 Rhodesia - local enlistments and S Africans Jun/Nov 1941
    718000-722999 Yugoslavs - North Africa and Italy Feb/Jun 1944
791201-791900 Yugoslavs in Middle East Feb 1944
This, of course, assumes that yr guys Enlisted before being Commissioned. Trying to track Officer Commissioned numbers is a minefield!! But there were several tranches of guys from S Rhodesia who transferred to the RAF/RAFVR. Their Officer numbers are in a relatively small numerical area. Might be a help if we knew their Numbers!

    Default Yugoslav Airmen

    Hello Milan,

As a thought these airmen could have ended up serving with 351 or 352 squadrons RYAF. I have some detail of the ORB for 352 sqdn and could not find any references to those listed. So perhaps they flew with 351 sqdn ?
Let us hope someone else picks up this thread.

    Best regards,

    Ian

I found a Drago Paloversic aged between 1-12 who arrived in Liverpool in 1919 from Chile on ancestry.com UK passenger arrivals. Parents Nicola and Elena. He has five siblings.
Surname in that file was spelled PALAVERSIC

    Might be him?

The family passed through New York on the way and name is recorded Drago Miladin Palaversic aged 7 yrs 4 months.

there is a Miguel Jaksic, Chilean, 24 year old Seaman sailing into New York in July 1946. A co-incidence probably only.

    Default Yugoslav Airmen

    Hi Dennis,

    thank you for your searches:

To Miguel Jaksic (Yaksic): I found chilean newspapers notice that man with name Miguel Jaksic (90) died in 2009.

Regarding to your research I agree with you that Seaman with the same name would be only co-incidence only.

To Drago Paloversic, I think it could be him, but I still have not any other info pertinent to this airman.

thank you so much for your help

    Milan
