    Default F/O Clifford Whitehead 45299

Would someone kindly look up the place of death registration for this officer please. He was killed in an accident 4/7/42. My usual web source for this information refuses to cooperate on this particular search.

    TIA

    Hello DaveW,

Not sure what you already have on Whitehead. Whatever, here is the quote from The Supplementary Volume of, Men of the Battle of Britain.

Commissioned in January 1941, Whitehead was killed on July 4, 1942 as a Flying Instructor with 4 EFTS, Brough. He crashed in Tiger Moth T8200 near Bellasise landing ground.*

    * Should read: Bellasize Reserve Landing Ground.

    See:
Men of the Battle of Britain:Supplementary Volume.
    Wynn,Kenneth G.
    Norwich:Gliddon Books,1992.
    p.198.

    Hello Col

Given the death registration area I was able to eliminate three of the four possible serials that I already had. My copy of MotBoB is the first edition, I believe subsequent editions have more information. Thanks for taking an interest.

PS I have Newland Gate Farm, Howden as the crash location.

    regards
    DaveW
