    Default RAF Mess

    Hi all,

I have confused myself a little bit - how many Messes were at RAF airfields during the WWII?

Officer and Sergeant (including all ranks below)

    or

Officer, Sergeant and for lower ranks?

    TIA

    Pavel, Hi,
    Officer's Mess for Commissioned Officers.
Sgt's Mess for Warrant Officers and Senior NCOs (be they aircrew or groundcrew)
    And on many Stations:-
    Corporals Club for Junior NCOs.
And for the Airmen there was always the NAAFI (Naval, Army, and Air Forces Institute) which provided 'social' facilities for the lower orders!!
On some Stations there were even "formal occasions" in the NAAFI. There were similar "formal occasions" in the Corporals Club which may have been looking towards teaching the formalities of the Sgt's Mess. It was all a learning process.
The only common result from whichever Mess was the inevitable hangover the next morning from whatever Formal Occasion the night before. Been there, done it, at all levels!
    Don't remind me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
