Default Crew details Operation Kassel 3./4. Oct 43

    Dear Gentlemen,

I'm looking for the crew details of the following a/c:

3-4 Oct 75 Sqn Stirling III LK378 AA- Op: Kassel
1943 F/S N N Parker RAAF T/o 1905 Mepal. Hit by flak over the target.
Sgt S W Riddler RNZAF + Sgt Riddler baled out. He was first buried in the
Germerode Cemetery, 31 km SE of Kassel. Now he
    rests in Hannover War Cemetery.

The a/c returned to its base.

Another question is: What was the individual letter code of this a/c?

    Many thanks for your help!

    regards

    Steve

    Steve,

The Station ORB (Air28/532) records the aircraft as JN-G. Not had a chance to check the squadron ORB.

    Cheers

    Steve:
As what you would expect on a Stirling crew at this time, more enemy engagements with most of the crew not surviving an attack 2 months later. Details of this in " NIGHT AIRWAR" (T. Boiten). N.N. Parker evaded and was later with PPF, 97 Sq. Parker has posted some info on the 97 Sq. assocciation website.
I tried contacting him several years ago, without success. The assocciation did not
ACKN. You may find other avenues.

Default More problems with this operation

    Dear Gentlemen,

thank you so much for all your answers.

Today I studied the service record of P/O Norton RAAF and found out that his Lanc ED433 crashed together with Lanc W4279 between Heiligenrode and Windhausen. Both crews were buried at Heiligenrode. Chorley has thes a/c's for the Söhrewald and Rothwesten what is definetley wrong.

    John:

It is very interesting that you mention the crash of Stirling BF470. Bill Chorley has another a/c for this location: Stirling EH994 what seems to be wrong like the entries for ED433 and W4279.

Maybe someone can help me with the correct details for this crash.

Further we have Stirling EF158. Chorley states that this a/c was shot down by a night-fighter and crashed 7km E Kassel. That would be the Windhausen area.

I believe that this a/c crashed into the Söhrewald (and not Lanc ED433) which is a large and thickly wooded area S/SE of Kassel.

Maybe someone can help me with this problem too.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

    kind regards

    Steve
